Jeff Dixon – 1999

A three-sport standout, Jeffrey Dixon pitched BUHS to Vermont Division I State Baseball Championships in 1997 and 1999. He was also a three-year starter on basketball teams which went to three straight Vermont Division I Final Fours. He was selected to participate in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl football game but opted not to play so he could play for the Brattleboro American Legion Post 5 Baseball Team, leading them to the state championship in 1999 and on to the Regional Tournament, where he pitched Brattleboro to a first-round win over Manchester, NH. He was selected for the 1999 Alhambra Basketball Classic and was a two-time second team Burlington Free Press All-State Basketball selection. He was also a First Team All-Marble Valley League basketball selection in 1998 and second team in 1999.

He continued his success with the University of Vermont baseball team, where was a 2nd Team All American East and All New England selection in 2003, a season in which he led the league with a 9-0 record and finished second in American East and 17th in the nation with a 1.93 ERA. He helped UVM to the first America East Regular Season Title in school history. He garnered several America East awards, including Pitcher of the Week honors. He finished his college career in the UVM record books – fourth all-time in wins with 18; fifth in appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts. His career record was 18-8.

He played two seasons with the Keene Swamp Bats and one with the Thread City Tides of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He was signed by the Montreal Expos as an undrafted free agent in 2003 and was invited to spring training in 2004.
