— Their stellar teamwork in both Alpine and Nordic skiing resulted in a state championship in the winter of 1971-72. Reporting in the Brattleboro Reformer noted that the team finished first in both the slalom and giant slalom races and placed fourth in the cross-country race in the second annual Vermont Interscholastic Ski Meet. The article also noted: “It was definitely a great team effort by the Brattleboro club coached by Bob Henry and Dave Anderson.”

 

After high school, one member of the team — Pam Packard — went on to significant college and coaching accomplishments, excelling in three sports at UVM – field hockey, skiing and softball – and launching a career in coaching that included New Hampshire state championships with the Monadnock High School field hockey team in 1993 and 1996.

 

Members of the BUHS 1971-72 girls ski team were: Loren Clark, Deb Dearborn, Jane Howe, Krystal Jenness, Lynne LaRosa, Ann Latchis, Pam Packard, Brenda Tyler, Mary Ballou, Edith Bittner, Debbie Campbell, Vicki Cox, Robin Larson, Debbie Martel, Cathy Powers, Michelle Ratte and Cammie Watson. The coaches were Dave Anderson and Robert Henry.
